- About Me:
- I am a mother of 6 daughters and recently widowed for the 2nd time. I was married to my first husband 19 yrs. and he died of a sudden cardiac death in 1979 at the age of 42. (I was 36) My old HS boyfriend, who had never married, because he was "waiting for me" wrote after receiving the obit from family and a year and a half later we were married and at ages 41 and 42 had two more babies! First girls born into his family in 69 yrs!! We were married for 26 years when he was suddenly diagnosed (without symptoms) with stage 4 Renal Carcinoma. He lived 3.5 months!! I kept him home and cared for him until he passed away on October 17th. He was a dynamic man; a musical conductor, .composer and well known adjudicator.loved by his many students. He was the love of my life and all 6 daughters adored him! He had been band director at Cornell, U of Minnesota and then 29 years at the University of Akron. At the time of his death he was the director of the Freedon Brass Band of NE Ohio. I play percussion in the band. I also play oboe in the New Horizon Band of NE Ohio. I worked for a family practice physician after I moving to Ohio, for 17 years and retired three years ago when he retired. I still have an active license and do PRN occasionally. My love is OB nursing and I began my career in Newborn Nursery and Labor and Delivery. I would love a prn position in NB locally! I was diagnosed with MS in 1964 and spent 11 years in a wheel chair with long leg braces and self cathed. In Nov. of 1975 while on a retreat with 20 HS seniors, ( I was the music minister playing guitar) I was miraculously healed of MS. A heel cord scheduled for surgery was lengthened, my bladder started to function on its own and after 6 weeks of PT I was walking without braces or crutches. I have had no symptoms of MS since that time! Praise God! I am still active with the National Multiple Sclerosis Society of NE Ohio serving as chapter services chair. I have my 50 year pin as a Girl Scout and have played in my church bell choir for 26 years. I love to knit..esp. Irish knits and socks! I have 15 grand children who are the lights of my life. I sit for Jacob who is almost one and son of daughter #5 who is an ER charge nurse at a local hospital. I love it! For 20 years I have conducted retreats on "Self Awareness and Healing" all over the US and it is one of my favorite activites!
