I am still confused about something. I went to school to be a nurse. Instead now that I am a "Charge Nurse" in a nursing home I feel more like a pill pusher. That confuses me because now that I work in a nursing home and care for 36 residents with only 2 CNA's. I learned in school that safety is priority. But how can one person ensure the safety of 36 ppl all the time. Not to mention how my license is at risk on a regular basis. The minute someone is sick, needs sent to the hospital, or someone falls, or lets see how many other issues people have, my license is in jeopardy. Because when these things happen I have to stop everything else I am doing and focus on that one person and their needs. So the needs of all my other residents are put on hold. Of course we are taught to prioritize at school and on the job, but, we also have time limits. So when meds arent passed on time because someone just fell or needs sent to ER then I am not in compliance. And some how this is my fault. It is amazing. Well just a little rant there.
