About Me:
I've been in some arena of healthcare since I was 16. Started as a Nurse's Aide(what we were called back then), went to respiratory therapy school then a CRTT a few years. Went to Medical Assistant school, worked that a few more years. Involved in music and art therapy(I do watercolor painting and crafting)then on to Childbirth Assistant program. Was a doula and midwife;s assistant 14 years with my own business. Worked in hospitals, LTC facilities, adult day cares and MD offices. Went back to school at 36, lived on campus w/my 16 year old rebellious daughter. My last semester of clinicals I failed out due to illness. I transferred to the state university, got my BS in Organizational management and Human Resources. Became the CEO of a private owned phone company for 2 years.During that time, I went to seminary and eventually was ordained (independent Christian) and received my Doctorate of Divinity. I pastored my own church and opened a women and children's shelter in Tennessee. When my father died in 2000 (I was 42) I went home to Florida to care for him. After he died, I went back to nursing school at the community college in the town I grew up in (full circle!). Since then, I have taught A&P and Micro, been the DON for a home healthcare staffing agency, obtained certifications in peds, cardiac, oncology, parish nursing and ER nursing. I hold a license in 28 states (including compact states). I am currently a travel nurse--I say who, I say when, I say how much!! I am very happy at my chosen career path. I get to utilize a great portion of my life experiences with my nursing and I meet the MOST wonderful people. But mostly, I belong to a very special class of gifted, interesting, professional and compassionate group of people-NURSES! Not just a job--a calling of the highest caliber. What an honor and priviledge it is to be entrusted with the care of others at their most vulnerable state! WOW!! I pray you feel the same about your chosen vocation! You must be special indeed! God bless you as you continue to touch and heal!

Thanks for adding me, Linda! Wow, I'm in awe of your journey! I am quite passionate about being a nurse...just graduated last May and I hope that in the many years to come that my passion will not fade, but grow as it has with you! You're quite an inspiration!

Thanks for accepting my invitation, Mrslamb. What a fine career you've had! It seems to me the students you had were lucky to have you for a teacher.
