About Me:
I am trying to start my life all over again. I was able to get out the domestic violence situation I was in, but this choice made me homeless. Its been a hard journey. For the past 6 years I have been a Veterinary Technician. I now want to go to college and do what ever it takes to become an RN. I want to be able to help others as well as take care of myself.

    It was very stressful. I had to take a leave of absence for a couple of months. I worked full time furing the first part of the program and then slowed it down a bit to two 12 hour shifts. By the time I slowed down, I was able to have applied for some grants, scholarships, took out a federal student loan and lived on PBJs and coffee! I had school paid for by the hospital, so that was all that really mattered. My brother moved in with me for a while to split the bills, and I actually moved back in with my mother for a few months. For my BSN, I lived with my grandmother the WHOLE time! (I am 33 years old!) That was rough, but I was grateful that I had the opportunity. It gave us quality time before she got sick and lessened the financial strain. None of the situations were optimal, but you plow ahead and before you know it, you have done it!

    Have you looked into hospitals paying your tuition in exchange for you working for them? How about grants and scholarships that don't have to be paid back? This is how I got through school...I was broke as a joke, but the scholarships supplemented what the tuition reimbursement did not cover. This involves a little time writing essays and getting letters of recommendations, but well worth it!
