About Me:
I've been a RN for 27 years...currently working as a school nurse (not terribly fond of-but have time with my son). I'm a single mom and had "HZ" at the age of 41.5! We live in a small cottage on the water (pretty but cold in winter). We have an aged ex-racer greyhound (Ms. Pacer) and a "rogue" cat ( a 20 pounder!) by the name of Zaba-(short for "Nzabanita", which in Kinyarwandan means "he who will be named"...lol). I have >46 grad credits (FNP/MSN) and am seeking advice on transferring to an on-line program (see my post from 3/16/08). I started my career in SF, (where I am originally from) in a trauma unit at SFGH and have done a lot in between-the ER, OR, Homecare/Hospice and have worked in Central America and many parts of Africa in war zones doing humanitarian relief and teaching/treating. That was my favorite-but no can do now with my young (9) son. I would like to re-locate to either CA (wine country) or Asheville area, NC. Don't want to work in a hospital because of the hours and my single status with my child. Any suggestions?
Hobbies:
Bicycling, Camping, Cooking, Gardening, Hiking, Photography, Reading, Sleeping, Traveling, Social/political activism-I worked on the landmine ban and helped change the archaic lead laws in RI. Yeah!
Favorite Movies:
The English Patient, Shawshank Redemption, The Illusionist, A Nun's Story (an oldie!)
Favorite TV Shows:
Are fav TV shows supposed to go here? (The format is a bit funny). Almost all British comedy or drama, Numbers, CSI Miami, The Medium and most nature and history programs.
Favorite Music:
The Black-Eyed Peas, Fort Minor, old Bob Dylan, Nina Simone, almost all genres with the exception of heavy metal.
