NEW YORK – It’s supposed to boost sexual desire—but it could be a killer.
Health officials in New York are warning people to stay away from an illegal aphrodisiac that is made from toad venom.
They say the product apparently killed a man. According to a hospital report, a 35-year-old man died after ingesting the hard-brown substance.
It’s sold at sex shops and neighborhood stores, under names including Love Stone and Jamaican Stone, even though it’s banned by the Food and Drug Administration.
It’s supposed to be applied to the skin, not eaten—but authorities say even if it’s used that way, it can still be harmful.
