It is good that nurses are taking new interests and researching on their own with mental health care. Good work cd. ECT (electric shock therapy) is on the rise. Why? Medicare is now covering it. "A quick fix as opposed to a lenghtly stay in the hospital." Cut the cost by all means. We all know that. I believe in some cases, very few, maybe this treatment may work. There should be strict criteria before this is done. Not just another order like a chest X-Ray. There is more but see what you think on your own cd. Go to a site on ECT. The pro's and con's are interesting. The patients experiencies who have had this done are mostly tramatic. I cannot believe that all the antidepresant medications and therapy in todays medical technology can lower itself to this as a quick FIX!! JCDove11171
