Can you pass NCLEX with 76 questions?

Posted 10 months ago I just took the test yesterday and felt okay but am I terrified..My computer shut off at 76 questions..Somebody talk to me. |

| Posted 10 months ago I have a girlfriend/classmate that passed at 78 questions...it took a LONG weekend and one day to learn that!

| Posted 10 months ago Thank you, I will. I will find out tomorrow morning. I feel in my heart that I passed; however, I am very nervous and do not plan on taking the test a second time. I appreiciate you writing back. |

| Posted 10 months ago Nkdwalker; that means one of two things, one that you answered enough questions right in all areas that there is no need to continue and hence you pass, and the other is if you failed in one area, then you have failed the test and there is no need to continue. In most cases cutting it off at 75 questions is a good indication of passing. |

| Posted 10 months ago I was told nearly 15 years ago that the test would take me approximately 3 hours on the computer (took the NCLEX in Ann Arbor, MI), after just less than one hour, and 76 questions, my computer shut down...I was MORE than terrified. I was in tears as I crawled back into my vehicle. I was CERTAIN I'd failed...just about a week later, I found out, much to my VERY pleasant surprise, I was wrong! I think it's very highly possible to have passed it in so few questions. GOOD LUCK! ; ) Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!! |

| Posted 10 months ago I passed the NCLEX RN with 75 questions, and was certain I had failed because I only used 40 minutes of the 5 hours they gave me to take the test. One of my students just passed after taking ALL the questions in several hours. Computer adaptive testing is scary. |

| Posted 10 months ago 6 of my classmates have taken their NCLEX-PN in the last 2 weeks and all have passed. Most had around 85 questions, one had 165 and another over 200. I go in 2 weeks and it is scary to imagine the computer shutting down on me at 75 or 76 but whatever number I just hope I am prepared enough to pass. This is the only test I am going into with just the thought let me pass and no particular score I am aiming for and thats a different feeling for sure. |

| Posted 9 months ago Does anyone know of any websites that I can use to practice for the NCLEX i take the test next Tuesday and I am really nervous. I think I got everything down but I just want to get a little more practice for I actually get on the computer for the real thing. Any suggestions ? |

| Posted 9 months ago I passed the NCLEX at 80 over 14 years ago...........it can be done...on the 76 mark too,,I was pissed I knew I had passed but I thought I KNOW more than this let me prove it....alll those months of school for 2 hour test!!! |

| Posted 9 months ago I am no where near taking this test as I just entered a nursing program. I am seeing that the number of questions people take varies. Why is this? Is it just random. Just want to know and I also want to know of any websites or books that may help me prepare for the NCLEX. exam. I believe it is never to early to at least see what type of questions there are. I will be taking the LPN exam I know there are different test but are the reviews the same for both. Thanks in advance. |

| Posted 9 months ago Although you cannot tell if 75 questions is a definate pass, it is usally a good sign. Mine, and several classmates shut of at 75 and we all passed. However, even if people take up to 265, they can still pass. Good Luck |

| Posted 9 months ago I also passed with 75 questions, and like nurseoncall2000, I thought, wow! all of that preparation, and how will THEY know that I would make a good nurse with just 75 questions asked/answered?! I will say that, for those who have not yet taken the exam, I had 7 classmates who took the exam within a short period of time...all but one of us passed the first time around....all but one of us took a Kaplan review course! coincidence??

| Posted 9 months ago YES, YES, YES!!!!!!!! When I took the boards my computer shut off at the minimum amount of questions. I was panick stricken!!! I had some of the worst questions you can imagine, stuff I was never taught and had not read about in the in the NCLEX. I was so shocked when the letter came I had to have my husband open it and I had PASSED!!!! So just relax it is better to have the lower amount of questions. Can you imagine having the max????? |

| Posted 9 months ago I Passed both the LPN and RN NCLEX with minimal questions. I walked away thinking I was either a genius or ignoramous.

| Posted 9 months ago Just an encouragement to all tou newbes, don't let the first part of your career run you off. You will learn more in you first year on the floor than you did in school. Find a nurse you can trust abd let her help you through. Never hesitate to speek up and say you need help. Good luck all, Its a wonderful job to have. I am now working on my NP/MSN. Iwas in the first group to use computers to test. We still had a longer wait to know if we passed. when mine cut off early I just knew I had failed. Dianne

The more right answers, the harder the questions you get until you miss one. Then they get easier until you get another correct answer. The test has an algorithm that allows it to calculate based on the correct and incorrect answers and their level of difficulty whether or not you are competent. Also, some of the questions are in "trial" and don't count towards the exam either way. The NCLEX PN and RN work pretty much the same way. Review courses are often helpful. |

| Posted 9 months ago I am an RN and I know people that failed at 75, 101, 265 etc. I also work with a guy from India that passed at 76 , people that passed at 75, 265. We get so caught up in taking it again. My friend had just re taken hers the second time and passed! You can't reverse the past. Pray and trust God. If you didn't pass study Kaplan, or Sauders! God Bless and I'll be praying. We all freak out when we're waiting! |

| Posted 7 months ago If the test shuts off at 75 questions, you were either doing very well or doing very poorly, because the computer was able to determine very quickly that you either met or did not meet the passing standard with 95% certainty. You won't know either way until you get your official results. If you felt the first half of the questions were relatively easy and then increased in difficulty, this is often a sign of success. |

| Posted 6 months ago I took my exam today and the computer shut off at 75 questions.. I am really nervous because the test was extremely difficult. every question I got was difficult. I had maybe a couple of easy ones.. it took me 2 hours and 20 minutes to finish.. Does anyone have any input |
