I just wanted to find out what other states are requiring for CEU's when renewing your license. Including LPN and RN. In NC where I'm from if you are working a full-time job it's 15 CEU's. Has anyone had trouble getting these in and how have you been doing it. Does you place of employment help or are you on your on. Anyone found and free online web sites that offer CEU's?
I liked to hear what's required in other states and how everyone is achieving this.

Medscape.com has free CEU's. You can talke them online. I'm not sure if they count for your state but it would be worth checking in to.

Thanks Kendbeef. Anyone else out there want to share what's required to renew their license or how they are earning their CEU's.

Isn't anyone out there worried about getting their CEU's in before they have to renew their license? Or is this not a requirement anywhere else but NC.

It's supposed to be a requirement nationwide but there's been so little information coming down the tubes that I'm not sure where to go or what counts for CEUs.

Joyrider being in NC you can go to www.ncbon.org and find out what you need to know.
When you bring on the left side of the page click on education and there will be a drop down box, then click on continuing competence requirement then click on that and it will bring up worksheet and requirements and such. Most nurses are doing #8 which is 15 contact hours of continued education and 640 hours of active practice within the previous 2 years. That is if you are full time.

I just wondered what was required in all the other states and if it was different and how everyone else was going about getting their CEU's. I have until the end of September 2008 (this year) to get mine in. RIght now I have 2 CEU's.My employeer had a two day class which I was told counts as 12 or 13 CEU's but I have not seen a certificate for it yet, so until then, I'm not too sure about it.

Thanks, StalightRN. I went to the website and that's the most confusing mess I've seen in awhile. Figures--it's NC after all! That's not a dig, fellow NCers. I've lived here most of my life too. It just seems that the state board wants everything so darned complicated that you need a degree in languages to understand them!

California it's 30CEU's every two years for your license renewal.  California has a tendency to be a tad picky so I used to use westernschools.com.  Usually have good deals for their CEU's, can be done online, print out your certificate and you're done.

Check with your hospial's education department.  They should have the info you need.  Some hospitals have a contract with a particular CEU site and you go on line to get your course and the best news is the hospital pays for the CEU's and not you.
