Posted 2 months ago Hi my name is Lisa and I am a CNA. I am also currently doing my pre requisites for the nursing prgram. I Finish my last two classes next week and I am so glad and scared at the same time. I want to be a nurses more than anything, but I am a single mom and I work full time and I'm not sure I can do the nursing program! Any Suggestions for a scared girl trying to live her dream? |

| Posted 2 months ago Ok so I guess no one cares about little me lol. Its ok I got this far on my own and I can finish on my own too. I just wanted some insight on what to expect in the program and what I should brush up on over the summer. |

| Posted 2 months ago I know what you are going through. I have 3 kids, went through nursing school and worked full time while doing it. It is very rough and you will live on caffiene but the end result is worth it. I love what i do now. My family was very supportive and helped out a lot. I hope for you that yours will do the same, but no matter what just keep telling yourself that it will be worth it in the end. Good luck. |

| Posted 2 months ago A warning before a tip: in my RN program (associate's degree), about 50% of the students who started eventually failed the program. I've heard grads from other RN programs mention similar failure rates. I saw lack of time--for study and other preparation--defeat some exceptionally smart, exceptionally capable students. Typically, they were single parents, they worked full time, and they tried to include the scheduled RN course load--which was generally two nursing courses a semester ( two sets of labs, lectures, and clinicals each semester). The load could easily have been greater. My program required that you complete about seven or eight courses before it would even consider you as a candidate for nursing school. The courses included math, anatomy and physiology, human development, and a tailored-for-nurses chemistry course. One solution: a friend tired of the stress and demands of the RN program quickly. She arranged to take only one course a semester whenever possible. She didn't mind taking longer than other students to finish the RN program. Another approach: consider completing a licensed practical nursing program first, then a RN program. If you'd like some other tips, send a message. Thank you ,both of you very much. I just finished my microbiology test ,which was almost all essay Q's and I have to say I think I kicked butt! I know that the program is gonna be hard. Somedays I know I can do it and some days I don't feel so sure. You see my parents are deceased my brother and sisters are to busy to stop and help me, and my kids often demand a lot of my time. That being said, I do what I have to do ,and then I study and it might be 2am before I go to bed just to get back up at 5am but I have survived and I know I can survive the program too. thank you again so much its nice to know that other people have done it and also a wake up call to remind me to work as hard as I can so I don't fail. |
