Is LPN & RN a REALLY HARD Program????

Posted 3 months ago Is LPN & RN a REALLY HARD Program???? I hear so many people saying that they failed in nursing school or the nclex. But then again I see many people are becoming nurses LPNs and RNs? Is it really hard to do? I mean your not a doctor right? so its not as hard as MD school right?

| Posted 3 months ago No, that was actually serious. I wondered how soon you'd be looking to enter college. You'll have to forgive my ineptness...our youngest is ill & I'm not functioning on much sleep. Nursing programs are typically quite a challenge, albeit a very "doable" one. No we're not doctors, thank the maker. |

| Posted 3 months ago Hey MD1Nursing, I am currently in nursing school for BSN program, almost done with my 1st year in beg. of July!! I actually love it! I started my first nursing class back in March, it is definately challanging. I have two different nursing instructors who lecture different days, which also makes it interesting. My advice is to go for nursing school, if this is really what you want to do. If your mind is set to get that degree, and you have a good support system, you can do it! If you are currently in high school make sure to get good grades and even volunteer if you can! Start applying to nursing schools in your senior year. Best of luck to you! Amanda |

| Posted 3 months ago Thank you all for the advice ALL of you! and by the way I am not in High School lol. I am 24 (old i know). I went to college already for Office Administration. But I hate the office. I did it for so many years to hate it more each and every year! I did a temp medical secretary assignment at a hsopital and new right there i wanted to get into nursing. I got acceoted to a LPN 1 year nursing program. I already completed Medical Assistant. Nursing is my dream. |

| Posted 3 months ago Can anyone give me some advice on the entrance nursing exam? I took it last year but did not get. In the reading and comprehension I received only a 29 and needed to get at least a 30 to even be considered. What must my composite or percentile score be to get in? I have been studying very hard since then even picked up a vocabuary for dummies book to brush up on my vocab. Just want to get in the program as being a nurse is really where my heart is at. I volunteer in the ER at my local hospital and I just LOVE the nurses I work with. They teach so many things as well as the doctors. I am due to take my exam in another month and just want to ensure I get in. Also, do most ADN programs only have 60 seats available at a local community college? |

| Posted 3 months ago The nursing entrance exam has a study guide available. Look on Amazon.com for "Review Guide for RN Entrance Exam." I used it to prepare for the test, and did very well. What your score must be to get accepted depends upon the program you are trying to enter. At my school they say its 90, but there is generally so much competition that if you don't get at least 100, you're pretty much out of luck. Check with your school to see what their requirement is. As far as reading and comprehension, if you have time, read over the questions quickly before you read the passage so that you have a better idea what you should be "getting" from the reading. That is usually a big help. Good luck! I hope you do well! As for the community college question, the ADN program I attend doubled the class size for the first time this year. They accept 120 students now. They got a grant from the federal gov't to help hire more instructors. Until then it was only 64. |

| Posted 3 months ago There are books you can get for the entrance exam. I just winged it. I think what helped me was the fact that I had all of my pre-reqs done so most of the stuff did not look foreign to me. I am not sure about LPN school but yes nursing school is hard. I have a bachelors already in another area. The nursing test questions are like no other. You really can't just memorize the material and spit it back out on a test. You really have to think. But is is dooable like RNdude said. I am in school to become an RN and I have one more med surg class and my capstone and I am done in October. It has been a challenge but if you really want to be a nurse you will discipline yourself and get it done. I wanted to go the community college here well any of them because we have quite a few. But the waiting list were so long like two years at least. So I went to a private based ASN program that was harder to get into and way more expensive but I was able to start right away. But the good thing is I already have a job and they will help pay off my student loans and I can get my bachelors for free. |
