Funding Nursing Education

Posted about 1 month ago Hey Everyone Can anyone tell me if there are other ways - other than Pell Grant - to pay for a Nursing Education? I heard someone say that they knew someone that received money for college as well as to pay bills and stuff while they were in college - but I couldn't get any information on it. I was placed on Financial Aid Suspension from the college I am trying to get into the nursing program at. I can't pay for college out of my pocket because I am a single mother trying to raise two kids. I can transfer to another college and try to get financial aid there and then transfer back but I really like this college - the staff is great. Any advise? |

| Posted about 1 month ago I have posted many items on this.Apply for as many grants as you can and the financial aid department should assist you. Also,go to websites. There are many many places offering scholarships. It is a pain applying 4 them but if you get it they are worth the time Drew |

| Posted about 1 month ago Thanks for the information. The only thing is the financial aid advisor at this college said since I am on Financial Aid Suspension I can't get any kind of government funding through them (such as pell grant, etc.). If I am not mistaken I think he said I can't get student loans through them either. The only other thing I know to do is transfer to another college to pull my GPA up and meet academic policy and then transfer back. I am aiming for the 2010 Spring ADN program - so I have time to do this - it is just a pain going through all the transfer stuff. |

| Posted about 1 month ago If you are on academic suspension for GPA, you may have difficulty getting a scholarship. Even the ones based on financial need require you to maintain a passing GPA.
How low did your GPA get? It can take a lot of credit hours to repair a badly damaged GPA: you will essentially have to get A's in future courses to fix the damage. Does your college allow you to retake courses to replace failing grades? If you transfer you may not be able to do that--check your college policies. If you retake courses and do well enough you may be able to apply for academic forgiveness to get D's and F's removed from your transcript.
Do you go part time or full time? Are you going to a 4 year college or a community college? |
