Hello everybody, my name is Tonashia, and I am 33yrs old with two beautiful kids.  I start CNA class next Monday June 16th and I start classes for my pre-nursing degree this fall.  I am so nervous and excited at the same time!  This has been a dream of mine for so long, plus I'm a little concerned about my age.  Being on this site has helped, but I am open to any and all advice.  Thanks in advance.

33? you are a baby. Just wait, you will hear from plenty of us who started nursing school at an "advanced age." you are young compared to many of us. Just wait until you get into your classes. You will see. baby girl.

I went right into college and nursing school straight from high school. I am 20 right now and will graduate at 21. I am the YOUNGEST one in my nursing and clinical classes! Don't worry about your age. You will feel very comfortable. I will tell you that the more "mature" women make like "second" moms to the YOUNGER nursing students like myself.  We all hang out together and no one is LEFT OUT. We all enjoy one another and have a great time. Good luck to you.

You'll do fine. I was 40 when I started my pre-reqs and almost 45 when I graduated with my ADN.  I really think as an older student you will me more focused and determined. I think the youngest person in my class was probably 25.

Good Luck!!!

Thanks lady's your words make me feel really good.  I'm in Barnes and Nobles at least once a week in the nursing section looking for books that will give me an idea about what I'm in for. I've found a couple of good ones.

I'm 31 with two small kids and work also.  There are many "adult" students in my class.  Somedays I wish I would've done this right out of highschool, but the "life experience" is definately helpful.  I work p/t as a nursing assistant and it has been helpful with getting me prepared to be on my own (in a year).  Just take it a day at a time when you get into school.

With such a shortage of nurses everywhere, it shouldn't matter what age you age. If you are determined then go for it! Young, middle aged, and more mature, we are there to help. That's what nurses do.

You Go GIRL! I just graduated from Nursing school May 2007and I am 33. Half of my class was over 30 so age isn't nothing at all. Keep your head up and don't look back!

I started my LPN class at 17 and was the baby of the class. Now just graduating form the RN program I'm one of the older students. I graduated at 45. There is a wide variety and it's interesting to see how they each take on the challenge. You'll do good.

Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time.

As the days get closer I get more and more nervous.  I know it will be hard, but I am determined to get it done and do well.  Thanks again to everyone for the encouraging words.  I'm glad I found this site!!

I don't think age really matters, I know a lot of people in my classes that are getting ready to go into nursing are over 30 years old. Your fine, and plus nursing has no age limit! :)

I am 34 years old and I don't find any of my classes to be extremely challenging.  What is challenging is attending classes with young men and women who are between the ages of 18 and 21 who haven't quite matured to the point where they don't giggle in anatomy class.  Or some who still behave like they are in high school.

Then there are the younger students who know that we, as adult students, are more focused on our studies and they want to be our partner for everything.

WTG!!! I started my nursing program this past April, and I'm 32 years old, most of my classmates are older than me, as a matter of fact, theres one gentleman in my class who is getting ready to turn 50. Just keep up the hard work and dont stress too much and you will definately make it through. Being an adult going into school is hard but I work full time and just finished my first term with a 3.0 average which by the way shocked the hell out of me, just buckle down....

You will be fine! I'm 34 and just have been accepted into the ADN nursing program. I already have my AS so, I just need to completed my  nursing classes. I'm nervous and excited as well.  Stay focus and determine and take it one semester at a time.

I'm 31! Age has nothing to do with it...it's how bad you want it!

You'll do great!
