Have you heard of this?!  A group of high school girls all got pregnant at the same time because they made a pact with one another that they would raise their children together.

This not exclusive to the United Kingdom, it happens all over the US also.  They make not make a pact, but it's become a "status" symbol among young girls.

Unintentionally becoming a teen mother myself, I don't think these girls have ANY idea what they've truly gotten themselves (not to mention their unborn children) into!  This is really a very sad situation.

Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, chocolate in one hand, martini in the other, body thoroughly used up, worn out and screaming "Woo-hoo"!!!

This particular story is actually from the US - Massachusetts, to be exact.

Do you think these girls get these ideas in their heads because they see "famous" girls like Jamie Lynn Spears (Britney Spears's little sister) getting pregnant so young?

These girls dont know what they are getting themselves into.  I always though it would be cute if my twin sister and I had children together.  Thing is you have your house to run and she has her's.  When your child is up sick in the middle of the night there is noone there but you to take care of the child there's no friends no sister, no in there case husbands around to help.  I was 28 when I had my first child and Its true that children changes everything.  I could not imagine doing all the stuff I do now when I was a teen.  They are going to miss things that they may think are not important now but in the future they will look back and say "WoW"  I could not do that when I was a teen because I was taking care of my baby.

They really do not know what they have done.  I was a teen mother too though not on purpose.  I graduated on time and I praise God for that, my daughter was a newborn at my graduation.  I could have been so much further career and education wise had it not happened at that time.  Parenting can wait until later years.

Well i guess this is GOOD News for Labor & delivery nurses lol. Otherwise this is sad because they are babies themselves soon to raise babies. there young teenagers who are young in mind and are gonna realize there mistake when they get older. A baby is a serious responsibility!!! Its not a doll that you can just put down when you dont want to play with it? If they wanted to have children together theys hould have planned to go to college and then get married around the same time then have children together? (But marriage is a serious responsibility too). But back to teenage moms. I know there parents are sad about this. Sometimes people need to think of others before they make decisions like that. but then again there teenagers!

Sigh, I had just read an article on the BBC and got the two mixed up in my head.  My apologies

I think young girls see a baby and think..ahh I can dress her/him up and they are so cute.  We had a set of twins girls at our practice get pregnant at the same time.  Well one a few months later, the younger twin explained that she wanted to receive the same attention that the older twin was receiving, so she got pregnant.  This is a sad situation.....

WOW! I cant believe that these girls thought that this would be a good idea.  the problem is that they are young and have no idea what is really takes to raise a child.  They think it is all cute and fun.  Boy are they in for a rude awakening.  I was nineteen when I had my first and 21 when I had my second and I wasnt prepared.  My second child was very sick and always in the hopsital (7 times before 2 years old.)  I think that ads and TV glamorize having a baby.  What about the fathers are they ready for the financial and  just being a dad.

I think these girls are lonely and somewhat neglected by working parents or parents in the military.  Love isn't about giving kids stuff, it's about spending time with them, caring for them and teaching them  values.  This is not a new trend, this has been going on for years, it's just getting more press

This is such a sad situation.  While there have been a couple of girls come forward and said there was no pact and it was just a coincidence.

Father Knows Best, Donna Reed, and Andy Griffith-type families are long gone...I think many times that if we could go back...sigh, family values, when they actually existed...

I think the whole teen pregnancy thing (of course, not the pact), is a worldwide epidemic.I know in the small rural town i live, i am always hearing of girls who are so young and are pregnant. Some as young as 13..Yikes, thats crazy!!I feel the community and schools  with help from the parents have to find a solution and educate these children. It seems most schools in our area have not improved the sex ed since the 1950's.I have 2 boys and  have had that discussion before quite a few times. Not only does it include pregnancy, but also HIV,hepatitis and other awful std's.What changes have been made in your communities regarding the sex in teenagers ?

There are no words to tell these girls what they are getting themselves into.   Babies are a wonderful blessing when the time is right.  Are the boys involved in this at all.  will they help raise the babies?  Probablly not.  The grandparents will probablly end up raising their own grandchildren.  I see this happen so often.

This is a sad situation. Children having children.  I have a niece who thought getting pregnant would be a sure way to "keep" her boyfriend. To make a long story short- she is now raising her son alone after becoming a mother at 17. Her son is now 9. Although she has had help from our family, it has not been easy for her or her son.
