Some schools offer the CNA class in conjuction with the nursing pre-reqs for the program. Otherwise I have never heard of anyone getting a letter and being able to sit for the testing without going through the actual cna course. Good luck!

I'm not sure if things are a little different in New York, but in Georgia you must present a letter or certificate of completion from an accredited training program before you will be allowed to test.

I've usually heard of it the other way around... if you are a CNA or LPN, you can usually take RN "bridge" courses at community colleges.
