Here I've been waiting for a job in acute care and BAM! I get a call from my top two choices, interveiw for both of them and have a second interview for both of them. One is telemetry and the other PCU. With PCU I get to train for 6 months in ICU, which is my ultimate goal. Both mangers seem like outstanding people, caring for the staff, encourage education and decent people work for each unit. The telemetry unit is known as the best in the hospital, well liked by the doctors, staff and the students. This would be great to belong to this unit with a great reputation. Then again, PCU puts me one step below ICU and if I excell in my training maybe they'd put me in the unit. I don't know how to make up my mind. They told me my experience as an Lpn helps me greatly and one said I would be making a decision between both units due to my experience I bring with me. PCU, I may get a day shift job with every weekend off which would be nice. Telemetry will be nights. I keep thinking as a new RN I should go for the Tele since it's focus is cardiac where PCU is everything. BUT, as an LPN I would jump at the PCU job no question, no doubt. I am a way more confident LPN than RN. I can't believe that they both call same time, I wouldn't have to decide. What are your thoughts. Has anyone worked in these areas?  PROS and CONS of both positions? I thought my first impression of the manager would help me make my decision but they both seem great and advocate for their staff members.  HELP!!

Thanks, I have my peer interview tomorrow for PCU so I hope they offer first. Deep down PCU is my first choice, but scarey thinking I may be on a critical care unit.
