I just love this. It was mentioned so thought I would post it for all of the pet lovers:

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together.

There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Don't make me cry, as I watch my rescue dog, Bella, the sweetest dispositioned pup in the world, but clearly she had a hard life before  she care to  us. Bella always has a look of fear on her face. But a more loyal pup I can't imagine. I wish I could post her pic on here!

I love this. I read this after I lost my mini-dacshund, Stretch, a year ago. It still brings tears to my eyes every time I read it. He was only 3 years old in 2003 when he hurt his back and was paralyzed. With the help of a wheelchair he walked again 3 months later but he was never the same. He passed away from complications of CHF on July 10, 2007 at the age of 7. I can picture him hopping like a rabbitt in the field behind our house like he did before he hurt his back and when he could run and play without being out of breath; I see him stopping and running back to me (he was so fast). He was not a rescue dog, in fact he was not a dog at all. He was my baby before I had babies.

I've only had two dogs in my life the first Taffy was a Basenji.  She was the best dog in the world.  They are African hunting dogs who love to run and she could jump over anything.  She got out of the yard once when they were repaving the side walks and a workman threw a trowel at her and it stuck in her back leg.  I almost killed the guy.  Little Taffy prints all the way down the street.  We had to put her down at age 19. Yes 19!  When we had to carry her everywhere.  I would have carried her forever, but she was in so much pain.  Now we have Angus a Boston Terrier.  I wanted to rescue a greyhound, but someone told me that they couldn't cllimb stairs, we have three floors.  So we researched and thought that a Boston would be best, and happiest here.  So we got him from a breeder, and I use the term loosely.

I hope Taffy is leaving footprints all over the wet cement of Rainbow bridge.

This is so wonderfull and reaches to all pets, I am going to print this for my co-worker who recently lost her cat, a long friend known as Healy. I am sure this will touch her heart.

Thank you!
