So, what are nurses thoughts on McCain picking a woman for a VP running mate? Was that a smart move or an act of desperation?

I think he's pandering to women but he chooses a woman who doesn't trust other women to make choices about their bodies.  He definately does not have my vote.

I feel like he is saying “Hey Stupid women” I think he thinks that women were for Hillary solely because she was a woman. He is a stupid old man grabbing at straws.

The man has no original thoughts or opinions. He's surviving on the POW thing. I said thing because he's no better than anyone else who ever survived POW status. He's the only one I've heard about who thrives on it, though. As for his running mate, does he plan to do his present wife the way he did his first one? He dumped #1 for #2. (Didn't I see this running mate living next door to Beaver Cleaver) She looks like a holdover from the '50's. He's a joke and not even a good one. He obviously has memory problems (comes sometimes from not having a thought in your head). The only thing he could have done that was worse would have been to choose Mitt Romney. I read he drove from New England to Canada w/his dog in a cage on the roof of his car in the winter time. True or not, I can't look at him now w/out thinking of that. When I see McCain, I know the rest of the world is laughing at the USA. He's not desperate yet, because no one has told him it's time to be desperate.

I've noticed that he walks slightly ahead of wife #2. I do wear reading glasses. So is it just me or what? If she had to wear a brace because someone shook her hand, howeva will she survive a receiving line at the White House or personal hygiene at the outhouse? What a Barbie wannabe! He saw $$$ signs when he met her. Now I wonder if he can even see Did he send her to Georgia to see if she could  find her way back? And why would he send her to a small country semi-occupied by the Russians? I heard she does alot of out of country visits. I've yet to hear about when and where she's been. But then, I'm still waiting for Paris Hilton to make the little publicized visit to Rawanda she was going to make when she was released from jail.

Palin is a right wing conservative, who is antiabortion, pro NRA and a life long member of the NRA.  She is advocating and pandering to Oil!  Wants to open up Anwar Reserve in Alaska to drill for oil, instead of advocating alternative energy sources.  This reserve is ecologically fragile and one oil spill could effectly wipe it out.  Not to mention, it would take  years before anyone would see oil coming from there.

WASHINGTON - Opening an Alaska wildlife refuge to oil development would only slightly reduce America’s dependence on imports and would lower oil prices by less than 50 cents a barrel, according to an analysis released Tuesday by the Energy Department.

The report, issued by the Energy Information Administration, or EIA, said that if Congress gave the go-ahead to pump oil from Alaska’s Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, the crude could begin flowing by 2013 and reach a peak of 876,000 barrels a day by 2025.

But even at peak production, the EIA analysis said, the United States would still have to import two-thirds of its oil, as opposed to an expected 70 percent if the refuge’s oil remained off the market.  MSNBC March 16, 2004

Just want to point out that she might be anti-abortion from her own experiences.

She had a baby pretty recently that was born with Down's Syndrome. She knew while she was pregnant that the baby had Down's because she underwent an amniocentesis. Even with all that, she decided to keep the pregnancy and not abort. Even though I may not agree with all of her politics, I find that she was acting with integrity by deciding not to have an abortion.

Just my two cents...

I am impressed with her. She stands up for what she believes is right. She doesn't do what everyone wants her to do. I am impressed with her, but still not to sure about McCain.  A like her more than any of the other three. She seems like she really cares about the US of A, she's not looking out for herself. I'm sure McCain's thoughts are pure, but she doesn't feel tainted by the system.

Please don't pay any attention to my misspelled words or typos. Sorry I'll try harder next time.

All I have to say is that i watched obama and his speech to the democratic party and it gave me chills it was so good.. I am definately going that direction.  I don't care much for politics but obama won me over and continues to with every speech he makes.

They are now saying that Sarah Palin's 17 year old daughter is pregnant. They are going to rip this poor woman to shreds now. Maybe not such a good pick for McCain.

I heard that McCain knew Palin's daughter was pregnant at the time he asked her to be his running mate. So, McCain knew what he was getting himself into...

I could careless her daughter is pregnant.  I only care what her views are and I simply do not like them.

So she chose not to abort her pregnancy, this does not give her the right to take choices away from other women.

I think it is a political scam.  He is trying to sway women voters, and make Hillary really mad.  I think Mc Cains pick was not very wise she is awfully young and is a new mom for a total of 5 kids and 1 with DS.  You can not tell me if her new baby needs her she will not choose her child first!!!  She is great running Alaska but I dont think she is ready for the White House.  She is very beautiful and smart just a little to green.

I think that his choice is a kick in the face to all women. I think that this is just another way of him saying to women that we have no brains. He simply picked this airhead because she is female. Anyone who knows Clinton knows there is no comparison between these two women.

At least with the Clinton(s) you know what you're getting. No surprises there. Hillary really showed her stuff, especially at the convention. Our loss. As for the pregnant daughter, is she the first teenager to get pregnant? Some idiot made the remark that if Palin couldn't control her daughter, how could she control the country? This country is not about control. Obviously this idiot confused the US with Mother Russia. I just heard a little while ago that the "media" was asking for paternity tests to determine if Palin's child w/Downs was really her husbands. Where do they get off asking such an asinine question?  Most of them are grammatically incorrect anyway and my very favorite is when they shove a mike in someone's face and say" How did it feel when you found out your family was murdered just before you came home?" , How does it feel knowing you've lost everything you worked your whole life for in the storm?, etc, etc, ad nauseam.....The media can all get in a sinking ship and ride it to the bottom If I remember correctly, the Bush twins made their fair share of faux pas in the past 4 years. You don't, for God's sake, attack a teenager and her unborn child. None of our business. I don't approve of McCain and he's playing this woman for all it's worth, but leave her daughter ALONE. Anyway, I'm a Hillary fan and she got screwed, blued and tattooed. I don't know what most of that means, I've heard it for years.

I don't feel we have any good candidates for this election, so I am merely choosing the better of the worst.  Obama won't cover his heart for the National Anthem and we want him for President. Are some of us crazy.  This is stilll the United States isn't it?

Having lost a brother in Vietnam in 67, I believe Senator McCain is a Hero.  Anyone that spent 5 years there, after being beaten, tortured, broken bones, had his teeth kicked out, should be proud of this sacrifice for our country.  Because god knows, when those boys came home, they were not given a Hero's welcome.  They were spit upon, I still remember the hippie mobs calling them killers.

As for his Choice for VP, I'm glad he didn't choose another white male.  I think it was a smart move.  While I am pro choice, I am not pro choice to the point, where I would vote for someone that  voted against saving an aborted baby who happened to be born live.   I think Sara Palin had the guts to follow through with her beliefs.  It's easy for anyone to spout what they would or wouldn't do, but when faced with the actual decision she followed through with her moral convictions.  That's not always easy to do, and I think that speaks to her character.  I will be voting for Senator John McCain and Gov Palin.

That is the beautiful thing about this election... nearly every one is represented. I'm not crazy about my selections though. I am of conservative Republican beliefs... yet Hillary's speeches had me hands down... had it been an open primary Hillary would have gotten it b/c even republicans are a little tired of the last four years and she was a democrat that even a rep. could appreciate. It sounds like Palin is a good old-fashion republican girl.... her beliefs on Antiabortion and the NRA are things that I find refreshing about her and I will stand with her on those issues. I try not to discuss abortion with people since one of my nursing instructors had us watch a video interviewing some of the nurses that worked at those clinics and even showed a partial birth abortion. Itseems to be a source of pain or anger for many women depending another persons point of view. These women on this video had their faces blurred and names changed.... this tells me that they are either ashamed or afraid of activist.... either way I can't see a job being worth it. Justthinking about it can bring me to tears.... but not everyone's so soft...... To each their own. However, let me point this out: a candidate is slammed for positions on abortion (which do harm) and women will fight for their right to be able to decide for themselves.... but the laws are popping up all over the place to a point now where I can't  even finish a cigarette with in 300 feet of a public building... because it's harmful?   Hmmmmm

Well everyone here knows I stand up for what I believe so here it is, I am not happy either with both choices, BUT Obama would not salute our flag, took the flag OFF his plane, would not shake the hand of ONE soldier last month, my cousin in the Army was one linned up when Obama arrived and he did not so much as say hello thank you for putting your life on the line for OUR freedom, go screw yourself, nothing! He may not support this war effort but our kids are over there fighting for our country I say either stand behind our troops or stand in front of them Obama has shown that he choses in front I hope he takes it in the shorts for that. Obamas wife hates america she has said it, only now she likes america because of her husbands run for Pres. I do not agree with everything Mc Cain says BUT we have enough bleeding heart liberals who want to give our hard earned money (taxes) to everyone and anyone whop wants a hand out. I think everyone should look at Obama a  little closer, what dies he really stand for? Who has he associated with most of his life, bigets and hate mongrals. You cannot tell me that does not become a part of you, look at the muslims who hate us, WHY because they sit day after day listening to hate mongrals telling them how terrible americans are, how is THAT DIFFERENT Rev Rite and his preaching, that Obama sat through for 20 years, come on guys look past your hate of George Bush and think about what your saying here please. Okay I am done

Yeah busy, I think you made some great points. I too am appalled at how everyone can just overlook Obama's chioce for an obvious racist American hating pastor and think he will do good for this country.Mccain would not have been my first pick either, but at least he served his country and shows open loyalty and love for America.

YES!!! Thank-you AbusyRN2go and ckruszka. I too am not happy with McCain, but I feel he is the lesser of two evils. I do not feel I can vote for someone who won't salute the flag or support our troops. Like AbusyRN2go said, they are over there fighting for us,  whether he agrees with the war or not, he could say thank-you for what you're doing. And for his wife to hate America come on. What kind of First Lady will she be?

I agree with you AbusRN2go. I like Shara and I like what she says is what she dose. I would have considered Hillary but, I will not consider Obama.  There is nothing free, someone has to pay for it.  I will not vote for Obama, nor any one I know will be votiing for him. I cannot imagine voting for anyone that will not salute the American flag.

It scares me that people make descions about political canidates based on one single issue. Or that they base their opinions based on a 90 second sound bite. I wish that people took the time to really get to know political canidates instead of relying on one media source. I wish that people would look at multiple sources even ones they disagree with. There are positives and negatives to both canidates and their running mates, so I look at which pair reflects my opinions overall. The various things people have mentioned here really don't affect my opinions of who I'll be voting for here except the abortion issue and gun issue. The issues of Palin's daughter, McCain's wife or service record, even Obama not putting his hand over his heart during the pledge of allegiance are all subjects that can be easily slanted  so the media can sell more papers or commericials. Why are we not talking about the canidates stances on health care? Social Security? Medicare? Education?

Really?!! Everything we know we learned from Fox News, eh?

This, ladies and gentlemen, this is why we have endured 8 years of a "C" student running this country into the ground. Not one person on this board makes enough money to consider themselves a republican! Just ask them. They'll tell you. If you make less than $5 Million a year you're not even middle class. Hell, they can't even remember how many houses they own! Now the party of "family values" wants you to know that they still love their pregnant teenagers?! ARE YOU F'N KIDDING ME?!!!

There are just as many images of Obama saluting the flag as their are of him NOT saluting the flag. Before you keep spreading CRAP how about learning the facts? You are a nurse afterall, I'd hate to think that you spend your life spreading ignorance that you learned from Hannity and Colmes, instead of looking up the truth and sharing that instead. It's also REALLY easy to take a 30 second sound bite out of a 5 minutes speech and turn it around on a guy or his wife. Obama is a patriot, just like you and me. His wife, just as patriotic. Sometimes in the life of a patriot you have to be willing to stand up and say, "this is NOT as our forefathers intended. THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH."

Now you can mark me as unpatriotic as you want. I don't much care. What I do care about is kicking lobbyists out of Washington and returning the power to the people. I care about tax breaks for the wealthiest 1% (Bush/McCain tax cuts) being taken away. They have all the damn money already - they don't need a break on taxes, too! I care about American jobs being brought BACK TO AMERICA. Instead of tax cuts being given to corporations who are willing to send our jobs over seas. I care about our military, our brother and sisters who have been sent to fight an illegal war on "terror" while we have gang-bangers shooting up houses in our own neighborhoods!

You can say what you want about patriotism. You can spout whatever crap you learned on an email forward from your Christian Right Wing buddies. Or you can pick up a couple books and do your own research and I think you'll find that there really is ONLY ONE clear choice for this election. Some of you may be old enough to remember Kennedy and to have had a chance to vote for him. You can't deny the hope you felt for the first time in your lives. Obama is that hope for my generation. In 33 years, we've never had a chance at putting someone like him in office and we will likely not get that chance again. If you put McCain in - we won't have a planet or country left to get another chance. If you put Obama in and he fails at all but one of the things he hopes to change, we'll still be better off than we have been for 20 of the last 30 years!

So I'll ask you - as basic as I can. Spelling it out in little words and drawing pictures if absolutely freakin' necessary. Do you want to put another GD "C" student in the white house? Are you absolutely positive? Even when you have the chance to put an honest to God "A" student in that role? The first black President of the Harvard Law Review? Seriously? All because he went to a black church that talked bad about white folks who were in power? That were keeping the "brutha's" down?

I have one very clear message for the Christian Right. JESUS WAS A LIBERAL! Read your bible! It requires more than going to church every Sunday and pretending you believe while sticking $5 in the collection plate. You need to start living the life and passing on ignorant crap you've read in your email or you've gotten from Fox News just isn't going to cut it. Just like that Anatomy professor who made you write a paper and explained that wikipedia wasn't a source. It doesn't work in the adult world either. Quit spreading ignorance.
