Scholarship question
Posted about 1 month ago I really don't understand how financial aid works. I qualified for Pell Grant and got it, so now, if I apply for a scholarship and get one, who gets that money? Someone at school told me I would get the money to live off of. Is that true-does anyone know? I thought all scholarship money went directly to the school? Could someone help me with this?
Thanks-Stephanie |

| Posted about 1 month ago Hi Stephanie, First, congrats on landing a Pell Grant. That's great news! Each scholarship will have different stipulations. Some may send you a check that you can use how you see fit. Others may send it to your school when they see prooff that you are a student in good-standing. Most of the time, you personally recieve the scholarship money so you can spend it on books, living expenses or tuition. Make sure you thoroughly research the scholarships you apply for beforehand because many will have certain rules such as maintaining a minimum GPA or number of units. You can get started with your scholarship search by using our Scholarship Finder. Good luck! |
