I just started my clinicals and I did not have any support hose. My feet were killing me before the first hour. By the end of the day my feet were getting blisters and my legs could give out at any minute. I have heard the support hose will help. I am needing to know where to get some and how do you know what size to get? I need some help on this. I have tried asking before but only got a small brief answer. Maybe I am not asking the right questions. I dont know. So if anyone that reads this if you know anything please help me. Thanks

The place where I get my work clothes usually has them with the socks.  I think they go by height and weight like regular pantyhose.  They also have Jobst or Teds stockings (Knee highs) like the ones we give the patients at CVS, Walgreens or probably any other drug store you may have near you.  What kind of shoes are you using?  I use Dansko's but they are expensive.  I used Reeboks, easy to clean, you can use shoe white on them, and maybe use an arch support.  I buy my stuff from Work n Gear.  But there are lots of unifrom places on the internet.  Try Jasco.  Personally, I don't like Nurse Mates shoes, but some people like them.  Sounds like maybe new shoes?  Sore feet are part of the deal with Nursing, so try to make yourself as comfortable as you can.

A good sneaker  with support adequate for your arches ( high or low) will help. You have to shop  around. Over the years I've worn  90 dollars name brand sneaker and 15 dollars sneaks from K-Mart. It was  about whatever felt good on my feet.  My legs use to ache really bad at the end of my shifts,  I found  that wearing supportive socks  helped a great deal. Supportive socks are sold in most uniform stores.  They help with circulation and keeps thoses vericose veins away.   Back in the day ,I've been known to get a pair of TEDS from central supply. Now you can also get TEDS  at any Rite Aide , CVS etc.

Thank you very much you all helped me lots.  I will try to look around I hope it is not too expensive the nursing program seems to have run me about dry. I am wearing new balance shoes. I think they are doing fine for now and i agree about the nurse mate shoes and not to mention they are too expensive. do you think ebay is a good place to look? I live in a small town and it takes about an hour or more to get to those kinds of stores. the biggest thing we got is wal-mart.  Thank you lots
