Ill be taking my Bio classes soon, How are they, are they really as hard as people make them out to be?

What about chemistry?

Any help would be great

For me, Bio was very easy.....chemistry, not so much. But everyone is different, some people may say the opposite.

I LOVED Bio!!!!  That for me was a piece o'cake.  (Alright not Cake)

I didn't have to take Chem in Nursing school, because I had already taken it in College Prep in High School.  Teacher was lousy, I learned squat, didn't care.

I always regretted not having retaken it Nursing School.  I had just enough to get through the boards.

It's what you make it I think.  I was hugely afraid of Micro, but found it fascinating and did well.

Probably would be the same for chem.

I loved A&P and micro.  I thought micro was easier than A&P 1 &2.  Probably because I was new to college and was in my 30's.  I had to learn how to study.  Even though I loved them.............they weren't easy.

We only have one heart, take care of it!

I hated the begining of micro but then when it moved on to the different bacteria cause this and the abx does this I was hooked, I loved A&P too but just because I really like to know how all this stuff we call a body works and why. Fasinating stuff really. Oh and I absolutley hated chemistry. Took it in high school. So glad I don't need that right now.

Did i spell fasinating right? Don't think so. I have developed this weird thing where ever since A&P and Micro I cant spell normal words right because all I ever study is those weird crazy names and terms. LOL

mICRO WAS EASIER FOR ME THAN A AND P. I HATED CHEMISTRY. MADE IT THOUGH WITHOUT MUCH PROBLEMS. LETS FACE IT, I TOLD MY DAUGHTER THIS LAST NIGHT WHO IS A NURSING STUDENT,' YOU HAVE TO STUDY" PEROID. NURSING SCHOOL WAS MY LIFE, I LIVED, ATE AND BREATHED IT PRETTY MUCH.

I HAVE BEEN A RN NOW FOR 20 YEARS, HARD TO BELIEVE....BEST OF LUCK

I WENT TO SINCLAIR COMMUNITY COLLEGE AND CAPITAL UNIVERSITY IN THE LATE 1980'S AND EARLY 1990'S. LOVE TO HEAR FROM YOU FELLOW NURSING STUDENTS.

I am taking my prereqs for the RN Program in the state of CA.  Chemistry is a prereq (with a passing C grade) before I can even sign up for Micro BIO or A & P 1 and 2.  Chemistry is tough if I don't study on a daily basis - 4 more weeks to go!

Probably all the looking through the microscope, and counting all those tiny buggers.  Not to mention drawing with one eye on the paper and squinting through the scope with the other.  LOL             Do you guys still have to do that?

ok-let me tell you like it is - the cold hearted truth.  Is A&P hard?  Well that term is relative - depends on the individual.  yes - A&P is fascinating and very interesting.  It is the fuction and structure of the body for God's sake.  Great stuff, but very dense stuff.  It is toughYou will have to study your behind off.- like almost every day.  Go to the open labs, use the tutorials and CD's, and you will make it.  Although I am squeezing an "A" average out of A&P which is incredible, it has been no walk in the park.  Just stay positive no matter how many people you hear say it is hard, just know too many others have passed - why not you?

Im looking at a stoichiometry problem as I look through these post. "great study habits I know" I had a hard time in the anatomy portion of A &P, Hours and Hours of studying, the physiology seemed to go a lot smoother. I felt like A & P was the first actual college level class I was in, I was forced to set times to study and stick to them. Micro and chemistry are a piece of cake after A & P.

I bought a book ("Chemistry for Dummies") in addition to my textbook for Chem class.  The extra book didn't help me.  Some advice:  don't fall behind in reading the material and PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE the exercises given in the text.  It's a lot of little stuff to remember and keep straight.  Also, take advantage of using the iNet for word definitions and calculation explanations.  Take advantage of tutoring and /or get with a study buddy/group to make your life easier if you feel like you're struggling all by your lonesome.  Who knows, you could do well with or without these tools.  Good luck.

Hi everyone this is my 3rd attempt @ A&P,I learned the hard way . Be careful when choosing your Proffessor, some of them want you to learn everything about A&P even the parts you will never use as a nurse. But if you can fine one who teaches you exactly what you need to know in nursing you'll be fine. I'm a 47 yr old female trying to better myself ,it's not easy at all my biggest problem is learning how to study. Can someone give me some advice? I've purchased different books outside of the regular text books like straight A"s A&P;I got nothing more out of it as I did in my text book.

Bio, chem, micro....all these classes were easy for me but everyone is different. I think that if you think these classes are difficult you will be shocked when you actually enter the nursing program. I'm in Nursing 3 right now and God willing I will graduate in May 2009.

If you want to talk about difficult......it's nursing 3. This semester was the hardest for me since entering nursing school. Good luck to everyone in whatever class you may be taking. Nursing isn't easy.......if it was, the whole world would be NURSES!

A&P- love that, because i am fascinated with human anatomy- my prof although a little not so good in his lectures (very boring and monotonous)i still managed to passed it, thanks to my interest with the subject!

Chem- i don't like the subject (hate talking about atoms, electrons, neutrons....), but passed it anyway- no choice i had to deal with the subject LOL

Micro-far better than chem- so you might like it anyway, as i did. thanks to our prof for a job well done (actually it really helps when you have professors that dont talk lousy and speaks like a robot! LOL

I had the same professor for A&P I and II. He was great, and we loved the class. Got an A in both. Micro was a different story. On top of the class being extremely hard, for me anyways, the professor would purposely yell at a different student each week, usually for something lame. I had heard she did this to "weed out the weak ones." We did lose a few students. By the end of the semester, she wasnt a saint by all means, but you could tell she was much nicer. Maybe we just got used to her. LOL. As far as hard, Micro was right up there with Algebra as being my top 2 hardest classes. Use note cards and good luck!  :)

I took Micro over the summer so it would be my only class and I would have plenty of time to devote to it.  I think it helped.
