I always tell my son who is in school to become an attorney........anything worth having doesn't come easy. Take a breath and have faith in yourself. Take a weekend break also if you can. Don't think about the books or anything, just you. Sorry this is the only advise I can give and I am sure I will be posting the same thing you did when I start school next month. Best of luck, and be proud of how far you have come! :O)

i agree with ajdillon that you need to take a break for yourself and do something non school related. I am a senior in a BSN program and i find myself at least once a month putting all my books away and just doing something with the family. If you don't make time for yourself you will burn out. It is a curriculum like no other.
We live to eat, sleep and dream nursing........
I would also like to wish both of you best of luck on your studies and a bit of advice: take one day at a time, one test at a time and most of all one clinical, care plan and lecture at a time.....
B/C let me tell you i agree, and what doesn't kill you will make you a stronger person.... Good luck on your studies........

Oh, man.... I have 5 kids ages 6, 4, 3, 3, and 11 mos. I am only on my prereqs and already feel like during Nursing School I'll never see them! Let alone the light of day!!! ;) Money's tight, I have slowly declining levels of patience, and I'm already tired! But, I press on. School full time and stay at home with the kids. Night school has been the best thing ever and I'm scared, worried, excited, and nervous for the future!! But feeling great that I finally took that leap to get back in school!! I applaud all of you out there with kids.... I feel your stresses!!! :) Keep it up, ladies (and gents).

I am trying to finish school too, and I had my son 4months ago. It has been so hard. I am actually 6 weeks behind on my homework for my Med Law class. I have no idea what to do. I am trying to tell myself to just think about the future, and where I want to be after I finish. I am trying to use my son as my inspiration.

Yeah, its really hard, im a mother of two boys. I go to school full time and work full time. In the end when I reach my goal it will all be worth it. Always remember that and keep going...you will make it.

Hey guys,
I just wanted to vent a little hope you don't mind... I look back at the last six years and wonder sometimes how i have made it through nursing school. Being a mother of four, working fulltime, school fulltime, and wife is physically and emotionally taxing. I am finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and i graduate on May 18th. I am in a four year program and this last semester has been worse than the six years i have been in school. The hours are terrible, i am going seven days a week, up at 4am and i keep wondering am i going to really make it... I am exhausted and having a hard time remembering things. Any suggestions on how to get the memory to stick around....??????????? I keep telling myself keep looking at the end result and it is worth it... but in the mean time i feel like i am being pulled in seven directions and not sure where to start first... HELP!!!! Thanks
JEssie D :))

This is the time to think of yourself for the next three months. GET SLEEP and take at least an hour a day out for you, to relax. Nothing saps memory like exhaustion, and sounds like you're combining mental and physical exhaustion. Good luck!!!!!

I might beat you to the punch. I am just going to throw myself out the window LOL! Maybe. But I do take breaks, rest and refresh. I have to, or...I will throw myself out the window. (I can see you all calling the psych ward on me!) However, I really am enjoying it. Education, at least as I see it, can be a challenge but somewhere between the chaos, it can be enjoyable.

You are right, although i may beat you to the psych ward as i have an inn with that one... My husband is a pysch nurse and he keeps threatening me he is going to take me there and leave me behind..... I tell him all the time that's okay it will give me a VACATION!!!!!!! Although you are right school isn't all bad and can be very enjoyable. I just find that there is so much busy work this last semester and it is just blahhhhh!!! you know what i mean.. I find that this last semester was supposed to be our easiest is proving to be the most difficult on the psyche... I am taking advice and find that my relaxation comes into play when i can sit and take some time to chat with all of you great people. I also like to take time at least every two weeks and have a spa pedicure done... If you have never had one i suggest to anyone get one. You sit in these awesome chairs... SO it is like getting a massage and your feet done at the same time. However, i need to find something daily to do just for me.. Maybe this will help... I keep telling myself that it is only four more weeks. That is all... I will be done and onto doing my bridging.
Thank you guys for the advice as i will truly put it to use.... JEssie D :))

I recently found this site and it has been not only a nice break from the studies, but is nice to be able to vent and get refocused. Thanks to all!

I too am a full-time student , but most important a full-time mom.....all I can say is take it one day at a time....try not to stress....ask lots of questions if you dont understand something.....find a GOOD study partner....and support is a wonderful thing. I have a girlfriend who will watch my youngest (8) for me, when I need to study. I have another girlfriend who likes to take me out after every semester to celebrate.....and after a long days work I come home and soak my feet....I cant always afford a pedicure. Basically, find your own escape and use it when you can. Just remember at the end of all this......you will be one Heck of a nurse and you then can help another struggling nursing student. Good luck to you all.

WOW... I have 4 sons ages 5, 4, 3,and 2yrs. My 4 and 5yr olds will be in headstart and kindergraden in Aug. I haven't even registered for prereqs and I'm stressing about balancing them being in school and me being in school at the same time. Also how to get study time with 4 boys who don't slow down until they are sleep :) I need to stop complaining looking at you, thanks for the motivation. I pary and believe all of us nursing mothers will make it cause we are doing it for our kids anyway :)
