I just started LPN school full time at Galen College of Nursing in Louisville, KY. As I am new to the area and to the entire financial aid process I am having trouble figuring out how you get money to help pay for day-to-day costs while you are in school and not working. I got appoved for the full $14,000 I had to pay for tuition but is there a way to get extra money to pay for your bills (rent, utilites, car payments) while you are going to school? Any help would be very much appreciated!

Hi katelovell918, I know here in Pennsylvania you can get what are called cost of living loans. Your finiancial aid office should be able to help point you in the right direction. You could also try your bank or Sallie Mae, a lending organization you can find online. Good luck!

Don't forget about scholarships, try applying for the ones offered through your school.

I took out a personal school loan when times got really tough, but I'm going to have to pay back all of that money, and it's a lot!

Your best options for financial aid are the gov. subsidized loans
